Student Guidance

Political Activity and Advocacy

Utah Tech University encourages students to personally engage in the political process and advocate for issues that matter to them. When engaging with legislators or participating in political activities, students must adhere to the following:

  • Private Citizen Engagement: Students may engage in political activities on their own time and with their own resources such as personal email, social media, and devices.
  • Prohibited Use of Resources: Students are prohibited from using their Utah Tech student email or any university-owned resources for political activities. This does not apply to campus elections.
  • Student Advocacy and Campus Events: The Institute of Politics, UTSA, and other Utah Tech-sponsored student organizations can promote voter registration, educate peers, and host political events while following university protocols. These groups must remain neutral on candidates and political positions.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that our University remains compliant with state law and university policies.
